Horror s 2013 movie#
This movie was actually made in 2011, but didn’t hit theaters in the US until 2013, so it still fits the criteria. But if you want something different, or you were a fan of the original VHS, give this one a chance. This is definitely not a hollywood movie, so if that’s what you’re looking for, I would steer clear of this one. VHS 2 is just as good, but like the original there are still some stories I liked more than others. I thought VHS was super creative and genuinely fun to watch. The whole film is tied together with an overall plot line that links everything loosely together. Five different directors take turns at directing 5 different horror short stories. The sequel to the anthology based horror film “VHS”, VHS 2 follows the same premise. The movie did a good job of creating a pretty creepy atmosphere, but every time “mama” was on screen it just brought me out of it. Eventually the girls are found by their uncle and brought to live with him and his girlfriend, but “mama” isn’t quite ready to let them go. They take refuge in a cabin inhabited by a spirit known only as “mama”. Two young girls are left to fend for themselves in the woods after the car they were riding in with their father crashes, leaving them lost and scared. The Spanish-American film executive produced by Guillermo Del Toro that didn’t quite live up to expectations. The movie centers around a group of friends in Chlie as they are trying to survive after an earthquake frees a bunch of prisoners who were being held captive in a local prison. It’s got a good amount of humor mixed in with the action/horror, and it’s not torture-porn like we’re used to from Eli Roth. I watched this the other night and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. AftershockĮli Roth presents, and stars, in this Chilean horror flick, which again may have come out in 2012, but just recently made it to the states. It’s basically zombies in England… easiest way to describe it. It’s sort of in the same vein as Shaun of the Dead, but not quite that good… It’s still fun to watch, but it’s hard to top Shaun of the Dead. Technically from 2012, but I don’t think it made it stateside until 2013, this is another horror comedy, but this time with zombies. You do get to see Riki Lindhome fully nude for a solid 5 minutes, so that’s cool, if you’re into super skinny chicks, but other than that I found the funniest part of the whole movie to be Kumail Nanjani’s slow walk to his delivery truck after getting stoned. I was a little let down with this movie, only because I think I had too high of expectations after hearing about it on podcasts for so long. Rob Corddry and Leslie Bibb star in this horror/comedy about a couple that moves into a big, old house, only to have strange things start happening. I would suggest “The Strangers” over The Purge if you had a choice, but The Strangers didn’t come out in 2013, so I can’t really add that to this list. Although it was a bit predictable, I thought it was good enough to mention. The rich can afford security systems, but the poor cannot. The government has made all crime legal for one 12 hour period a year.

Please feel free to complain or bitch about the list in the comments below, as I know there will be people that disagree with me, but if you’re going to ridicule the list, make sure you provide your top movies so we can at least have a semi-logical conversation about it. I saw a lot of movies this year, whether for this site or just for the hell of it, but the one genre I love the most is horror.
